A Very Irish Holocaust

A silence penetrates all

goes through all

permeates what has been heard

what has been seen

what has been known about

a gilded guilt raised above the alters

of power

making the suffering masses invisible

It did not happen

It could not happen

It did not happen

The mantra of the massed mislead

It happened

in the unmarked fields

beneath the graceful gardens

under the concreted carpark

the dead

the murdered

the inviable children

of a very Irish holocaust
