Anthology For The Homeless

just posted this on Facebook Anthology For The Homeless group, here’s the link if you would like to contribute

Plastic Cup Fill Up with Emptiness

A flea-bitten coat from the knackers’ yard
rolls from his body across Angel Station tiles
so filthy he is one with his cardboard mat
soulless shoes and plastic cup

From this mound of duffled dirt
sunken face and long snout poke
skin drawn back to be little more than
flesh coloured dusk on a skull

All eyes here are dark and lost from home
never catching another at morning push
or midday tourist rush
no stare is responded to – not even you

Here among the veins of our concrete hearts
to ignore is considered normal
plastic cups fill up with emptiness
overflow to busy platform and roll down to the tracks
